Lace Making, Quilting and Sewing, Oh My!!
I can tell you, our Members are a talented lot. Several of our Members are part of our RMA Textile Sub-Group which meets once a week at the ARCC Building in Wagga Wagga and I was privileged to be be invited to visit the group at work, earlier this month.
What a thrill it was to see wonderful work of such a high standard and calibre. Under the guidance of RMA Vice president, Rose Organ, the ladies were totally engrossed in their work, whether sewing individual garments, bobbin lace making or paper pattern drafting.
Kim had brought in her beautifully stitched and finished Dr Suess quilt, Maureen took the time to show me some of her gorgeous, intricate lace work pieces and Carmel and I discussed the importance of using just the right button to offset the beauty of her jacket, made in that divine Marimekko fabric.
Loaded up with a cuppa and cake, my afternoon was complete. Thank you, ladies. Just another day in the Riverina Millinery Association.
(The ARCC in Tarcutta Street, Wagga is also home to other such diverse groups including the Embroiders Guild, the Potters Club, the Bonsai Society, Wagga Wagga & District Historical Society, the Girl Guides, Alliance Francais and more.)
